Breath Series: Breath-Taking for Childcare Workers and Parents

We'll connect the dots between your child's Breathing Pattern and their Childhood Development affecting overall health for the rest of their life.

It’s estimated that 85% of us have some degree of dysfunctional breathing. Much of this starts in childhood and has dramatic consequences on our health, our brain function, and our appearance over our lifetime.

Since you breathe every moment of your life, how you breathe has surprising effects on your health every moment too. Everything from the shape of your child’s skull and facial features to the function of their lungs is dramatically impacted by their habitual breathing patterns. This is where you can make a dramatic difference in your child’s life.

A little bit about our instructor:

Carole’s background has been equal portions of respiratory therapy, exercise physiology, and massage therapy.  Her career as a respiratory therapist began at Loma Linda University Medical Center where she discovered that most adult patients were in the hospital because of poor lifestyle choices. That inspired her to attend graduate school at LLUMC, majoring in Health Sciences. She now focuses her work in a relatively new field of pulmonary medicine - recognizing and treating breathing disorders.  She has personally benefitted from improved breathing patterns, “I have found that each day I was mindful of my breathing pattern, I gained more energy, and my breathing became easier. It felt like I was turning the clock back as I continued to gain strength and endurance.”

Breath-Taking Online is a school that encompasses the entire field of this branch of medicine. Carole’s mission is to share this information, along with personal experience and background, to help others breathe easier and feel healthier, too.

Have you ever seen a patient or family member becoming more and more anxious with ever increasing shortness of breath and wanted to offer more help?

This class teaches you simple ways to help your patients feel calmer and breath more freely.

Healthcare Workers, and caring individuals alike, will be able to participate in the exercises and activities throughout the class to feel for themselves the techniques and benefits of this training.

Breath Series: High Altitude Vacationing

If you are planning a mountain vacation in 4-6 weeks, TAKE THIS CLASS NOW

High Altitude Vacationing is for people who are planning to vacation in a mountain region. The higher altitude reduces the amount of oxygen that will reach the body’s tissue, including the brain. You may have heard of people going to Denver, and other high-altitude locations, to train for elite sports. But we won’t need an elaborate training center. You’ll progress through 10 exercises, over 4 to 6 weeks, that will help your body begin to adapt to the higher altitude while still at home at sea level. Changes in your body will include an increase in Red Blood Cells, giving your blood more oxygen carrying capacity prior to your vacation. You will learn a more functional breathing pattern that gives greater tissue oxygenation and less shortness of breath. Using the new, more optimal breathing pattern, will allow you to maintain a higher oxygen level and ease of breathing while on vacation.

Yes, it’s true, can, literally, breathe new life into our body

Every cell in your body is dependent on oxygen to create energy. And the amount of oxygen available to every cell in your body and brain is dependent on the breath. To be even more specific, dependent on the quality of your breathing pattern and function. This class will train you, and your entire respiratory system, to be more efficient at delivering blood, oxygen, glucose, and nutrients to all those cells. Whether you’re an athlete or not, the secret to greater strength and endurance starts and ends with the strength of your respiratory system. No matter how long you train, or how hard you work out, when your breathing gives out - your body follows.

The class is presented as if the student will give themselves at least 3-6 weeks to implement the exercises & techniques.

Give yourself an advantage with greater brain power

School is hard. Let's face it, you will never get more out of school than you are able to put into it. Getting a good education takes your best effort, physically and mentally. This course is not about learning memory tricks, it's about changing the chemistry and physiology of your brain and its capability for learning by improving blood flow, oxygenation, and nutrient delivery. It will cover how your Autonomic Nervous System can be balanced with your Respiratory System to allow you to feel calmer and more focused under pressure with improved concentration.

Crochet & Knitting Lab

Do you love to crochet or knit but don't want to do it alone?  Do you need help with a project?  Or do you want to learn how to make something for yourself?  Let us help you!!!

We are offering a crochet and knitting lab.  This is for anyone who loves to crochet or knit and wants to learn.  Our instructor is amazing!  Let us know what you want to learn to make and we will find a pattern and she can teach you.  If you just want to drop in for 1 night and get help on a project, it will only cost you a $3 drop in fee.  Or do you want to hang out all 12 weeks and chat while working on projects, no problem!

 

Introduction to Bridge

This will be a basic introduction to Bridge.  If you know nothing or even a little bit about Bridge, come join us!  Emphasis will be placed upon the fundamentals of the card game.  We will cover the value of a hand, bidding, contract place and scoring.  The framework of instruction will be based on the Charles H. Goren model.  Participants will play bridge at the conclusion of each session.

Boo Your Neighbor

For $25 you can have your neighbor, or anyone in the area, "booed". Will be set up for 24 hours on the day of your choice. Contactless and.  100% of profits will go to the Enrichment Program at Adult Education.
