Outdoor Power Sports and Equipment Maintanence

This course will teach the basic skills of proper service and maintenance of motorcycles, ATV's snowmobiles and lawn care equipment. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the major systems of the machine(s) and how to protect them from costly damage. By performing routine inspections, service, and repairs, you will be able to prolong the life and value of your machine(s). This course will include 2 and 4 engine design and operations, brakes, suspensions, electrical systems to include battery, wiring, starting, ignition and charging systems. Students will learn how to use service manuals, and electrical schematics, the proper and safe use of tools and equipment.
Also drive systems and repair, use of special service tools, and troubleshooting will be covered. The depth of this course will be determined by the students attending and their prior knowledge and abilities. Diploma students can take this class as an elective.
Also, upon successful completion of this course, students will receive 1 credit towards NMCC (AUT109). Classes will be held at the State of the Art NMCC Automotive shop on the Presque Isle campus.
High school students are welcome to take this class, and middle school students are welcome with a paying parent/adult.
Students will be required to bring their own equipment/projects to work on, and ideally must be able to transport back and forth to each class, not leaving them in the shop.
Steal toe boots and long pants are required to wear to each class.
The cost for this 10 week course is $99. The course fees includes shop use, tools and any equipment needed to work on projects.
