ESL (English as a Second Language

Aroostook County Adult Education Programs are all partnering with the EnGen online learning platform to provide ESL instruction, support and career guidance.
EnGen is a personalized, career-aligned English learning platform that offers 130+ courses that equip learners of all levels with both language and career skills to access opportunities in high-demand fields. Courses range from Beginner English Literacy to more advanced career-aligned courses in the fields of healthcare, manufacturing, retail, hospitality and many more.
When you enroll in these courses through Adult Education you will have access to all the EnGEn courses as well as support and instruction from a local instructor who will work with you to ensure your success in ESL. You will also have the option to work with the local instructor either in person or remotely via video conferencing.

Adult Basic Education Classes

We offer both Math and English courses for adult learners who need training to prepare them for daily life functions and basic job skills. Anyone who is seventeen years old and is no longer enrolled in traditional high school may register. These classes meet at regularly scheduled times each week.
Students join this class at anytime during the academic year!
Fiber Arts

Do you love to crochet, knit or tatting but don't want to do it alone? Do you need help with a project? Or do you want to learn how to make something for yourself? Let us help you!!!
We are offering a crochet, knitting or tatting lab. Our instructor is amazing! Let us know what you want to learn to make and we will find a pattern and she can teach you. If you just want to drop in for 1 night and get help on a project, it will only cost you a $5 drop in fee. Or do you want to hang out all 15 weeks and chat while working on projects, no problem!
American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED (New Certs.)

The American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program provides participants with the knowledge and skills they need to recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. The courses in this program teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed. The program offers a choice of first aid, CPR and AED courses to meet the needs of various training needs of diverse audiences.
No previous training is required, and certification is good for 2-years.
Maine Driving Dynamics
The Maine Driving Dynamics course is a driver improvement course that is designed to improve a student's defensive driving awareness. This five-hour course includes discussion of collision avoidance techniques, safety issues, driver habits and attitudes, and the basic elements that constantly challenge drivers on Maine's highways. Our goal is to save lives, prevent injuries, and reduce vehicle-related crashes.
A student who completes the course will receive a three-point credit on their driving record and may be eligible for insurance discount.

ServSafe Food Manager Certification-Course & Exam

The ServSafe® program is developed by the National Restaurant Association with the help of foodservice industry experts who face the same risks you do every day. Your concerns are our concerns.
Our years of experience and inside knowledge of the foodservice industry are at the core of our courses, exams and materials. We will prepare you to handle food sanitation risks.
Our materials help define food safety best practices because we involve specialists from regulatory agencies, academia, and the foodservice industry to create them. ServSafe materials reflect the latest science, research and FDA Food Code.
Certified ServSafe Instructors and Registered ServSafe Proctors must meet minimum experience and educational requirements. You can be confident that practical, real-world experience guides your training.
The fee covers materials, instructor, exam and certificate presentation. There is no refund for this class unless we need to cancel for any reason.
If you have already completed the course/training and are only in need of the proctored exam, please register for our exam only session.
