This is where your future begins!  Whether you are looking to complete your high school education (diploma or HiSET, formerly GED), wanting to brush off skills for college, or heading toward a career, this is the first step.  During this one-on-one meeting, we will discuss your academic history and current standing, any barriers to progress, and goals; short & long term. We will also give a clear picture of how our program works and what you can expect from us.

Adult Basic Education Classes

We offer both Math and English courses for adult learners who need training to prepare them for daily life functions and basic job skills. Anyone who is seventeen years old and is no longer enrolled in traditional high school may register. These classes meet at regularly scheduled times each week.

Students join this class at anytime during the academic year! 

 

Phlebotomy Application

***This is ONLY the APPLICATION. Students must be interviewed and accepted into the course. Upon acceptance the cost of the training will be $1,700.00.   Course will only run with at least 5 students in the class.**

This course is designed to prepare the entry-level phlebotomist or those individuals seeking a medical career pathway with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to perform in a medical laboratory environment. The phlebotomy student gains confidence and professionalism in the art of obtaining blood samples for laboratory analysis through repeated hands-on practice and instructor feedback. Students are provided instruction in the areas of communication, medical terminology, proper specimen collection, basic anatomy & physiology, as well as complications and variables surrounding venipuncture. In addition to instruction students will complete a 2 week clinical experience.

Upon completion of the course students will receive 3 credits through UMPI. The cost for this program is $1700.  Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.

Upon registration, program and application materials will be sent to you.

***Preference will be given to those who complete (or start the process of) immunizations prior to the interview. This includes HepB, which takes several weeks to complete. 

Application deadline is Friday,August 2nd, 2024 and interviews will follow shortly after.  Classes will begin on September 3rd.

Fiber Arts

Do you love to crochet or knit but don't want to do it alone?  Do you need help with a project?  Or do you want to learn how to make something for yourself?  Let us help you!!!

We are offering a crochet and knitting lab.  This is for anyone who loves to crochet or knit and wants to learn.  Our instructor is amazing!  Let us know what you want to learn to make and we will find a pattern and she can teach you.  If you just want to drop in for 1 night and get help on a project, it will only cost you a $5 drop in fee.  Or do you want to hang out all 15 weeks and chat while working on projects, no problem!

 

Beginner's Quilting

In this class Amber will teach you a few basics of sewing such as how to thread the machine and cutting the fabrics.  You will be making an Rail Fence quilt.

What you will need for class:

1 1/2 yds fabric A (main focus fabric)

1 1/2 yds fabric B (darker fabric)

1 1/2 yds fabric C (lighter fabric)

4 yds - Backing fabric

4 yds Batting

1 spool of thread - mathcing for your top stitch

Sewing machines are provided but if you want to bring your own, you are welcome to.

 

 

Intermediate Quilting

For this quilt you will need:

2 1/2 yds of fabric A (background fabric)

1 1/2 yds of fabric B (lighter fabric)

1 1/2 yds of fabric C (main focus fabric)

4 yds batting

4 yds backing fabric

1 spool of matching thread for top-stitch

We will have sewing machines provided but if you would like to bring your own please do.

American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED (New Certs.)

The American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program provides participants with the knowledge and skills they need to recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies.  The courses in this program teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed.  The program offers a choice of first aid, CPR and AED courses to meet the needs of various training needs of diverse audiences.

No previous training is required, and certification is good for 2-years.

ServSafe Food Manager Certification-Course & Exam

The fee covers materials, instructor, exam and certificate presentation.

If you have already completed the course/training and are only in need of the proctored exam, please register for our exam only session.
