Our community is looking for individuals who want to make a difference in a child’s life.

Children’s Behavioral Health Services are vital to Maine’s children with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism and Mental Health Disorders and their families. And the need in our area is great!

As an integral part of the child’s treatment team, a Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) has the opportunity to make an immediate impact while helping a child grow and develop to their full potential.

We are excited to connect our community to this wonderful ONLINE training program. The online training will equip you to help children who are receiving Behavior Health services. The training will prepare you for employment through local social services agencies. The program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace.

You will complete 12 online modules then 3 4-hour live sessions, including the new ethics and boundaries training.  Once the modules are completed, you will receive free online blood borne pathogen training and virtual First Aid & CPR training if you do not already possess those certifications. The entire training requirements will take about 45 hours. 

Any individual who will be 18 years of age or older upon completion of the course may register.

Creating effective online learning courses and simulations can be a challenge. There are tools and techniques, as well as best practices, that can help those designing and creating online learning content for organizations and institutions of higher education. This Certificate in Online Learning offered by the National Institute of Online Learning (NIOL) draws upon the lessons learned by the creative, editorial, and technical teams at MindEdge Learning. MindEdge Learning, founded in 1998, has developed online courses and simulations used by hundreds of thousands of students in higher education and the private sector. This certificate offers instruction on the major models, tools, and techniques in creating and delivering online learning. It reviews the fundamentals of general learning theory and how it can be applied, in practice, to online design and instruction. Further, the certificate provides a brief survey of the technology employed in online learning, best practices for teaching online, strategies for integrating narrative learning into an educational curriculum, and the basics of developing accessible online learning. Each of these self-paced courses offer an assortment of interactive exercises, selected readings, and self-assessments. Upon successful completion of all courses in this certificate program, you can download and print a Certificate of Completion.

Frontline managers play an important role in maintaining their organization's culture. It's up to them to make sure the people they supervise are aware of the values, norms, and customs that define their workplace. This course is designed to help new managers understand and adapt to the culture of their workplace. Topics include the difference between culture and organizational climate; the relationship between communication and culture; the importance of leadership; the role of frontline managers within the culture; and how to recognize and address a toxic workplace culture.

Progressive discipline is a process for handling workplace issues by providing opportunities for employees to correct problems through a series of increasingly severe sanctions. Progressive discipline is considered a best practice because it is corrective rather than punitive and tailored to the seriousness of the issue. This course will provide Frontline Managers with the skills necessary to implement and manage an effective progressive discipline program at their organization.

Managing a team or group requires a different approach to managing individuals and a skillset appropriate for the unique challenges groups and teams present. In this course, we'll distinguish between teams and groups, and explore the ways that both are used in modern business. You'll learn to recognize how teams come together and make decisions. This course will help new managers build a good team, empower it, resolve conflicts within it and how to jumpstart the team's creativity.

This introductory course is meant for frontline managers, or aspiring frontline managers, who recognize work-life balance as a skill and want to improve their ability to create this balance. This course looks at methods and techniques to reconcile work and family. You will also consider the question of personal fulfillment and the needs and demands of leadership.

If you're a manager or supervisor, you have probably been faced with a difficult conversation with a direct report. Not only do these conversations require sensitivity, delicacy, and in all likelihood, confidentiality, but how the conversation is handled can greatly impact the outcome. This course seeks to prepare learners to better handle awkward and difficult discussions with employees. Many difficult conversations can impact employee productivity, but as the manager or supervisor, you can learn to coach and counsel employees to create a calmer work environment and increase staff retention and productivity in the process.
